A multimedia producer and musician with a deep-rooted passion for art and design, I’ve spent my career at the crossroads of creativity and technology. My path has taken me through a dynamic range of disciplines including video production, audio engineering, graphic design, and web development, each shaping my artistic identity.
I studied at an art school that championed interdisciplinary exploration, where I worked with everything from woodworking and welding to sculpture and painting. While I loved the tactile nature of physical media, my lifelong relationship with computers drew me toward digital art: experimental video, animation, web design, and image compositing. This foundation gave me a broad creative vocabulary and an appreciation for how different artistic forms intersect. In that space—where technology, art, and education converge—I found my calling.
Music has been a constant in my life, evolving alongside my visual work. I started in symphonic band as a flutist, later transitioning into the world of rock bands, where I played keyboards and guitar. That immersion in collaboration and sonic experimentation shaped the way I approach creative projects across all mediums. I still play music every day, often with my closest friends.
During art school, my fascination with music deepened. I constantly practiced the craft of recording—not just capturing sound, but shaping it with purpose. In 2009, I joined the audio engineering team for a trio of world-class audio recording studios, gaining valuable expertise in system-level troubleshooting and high-fidelity production. Those skills remain core to my creative and technical approach today.
The fusion of multimedia design and sound engineering became the perfect foundation for my work in video production for online learning. As a producer, I bring a sharp editorial eye and a discerning ear to every project, overseeing the recording and editing of hundreds of videos each year. The precision I developed as a multimedia designer translates seamlessly into creating compelling, accessible educational content for learners worldwide.
At heart, I am a creator, drawn to the ever-evolving intersections of technology and art. Whether through music, video, or design, my goal is to produce work that not only pushes artistic boundaries but also creates lasting connections, sparking thought and inspiring action in those who engage with it. I aim to bridge the gap between creativity and purpose, leaving an impact that extends beyond the screen and resonates with audiences in meaningful ways.
I currently produce online courses and short-form video content for the Marsal Family School of Education, and previously worked for the Center for Academic Innovation and the Duderstadt Center. For more than a decade I've used my artistic talents to produce delightful visual narratives with the university community, capturing stories about learning styles, teaching philosophies, and creative educational spaces. I've also served as a team leader, overseeing and mentoring multimedia professionals to achieve shared goals. Whether managing highly skilled teams or diving into hands-on production, I've guided large-scale projects from start to finish, making sure each piece aligns with educational goals and resonates with diverse audiences.
Throughout my instructional media design career, I've produced an extensive body of work including hundreds of lectures and interviews, custom graphics and animations, and other media that showcase a unique blend of creativity and technical precision. My work often blends mixed media elements into cohesive video experiences that have reached global learners on platforms including Coursera, edX, and Michigan Online.
Beyond the technical aspects of setting up cameras, lighting, and audio equipment, I work hard to create comfortable environments where instructors feel confident on camera. When filming is done, I spend much of my time meticulously editing, shaping each video into something polished and impactful. Every project is an opportunity to craft a meaningful learning experience that blends my passion for education with my love for storytelling and design.
Our home movies were a little more involved than usual. My introduction to filmmaking was through my mother's love of theater: she would stage elaborate skits, and we would act in them while recording. Producing content in this way showed me the value of doing things over until they're just right—a constant challenge to my own perfectionist tendencies in my personal projects, but one that I hope has shaped me into a patient and considerate cinematographer when working with others. I've documented artists and musicians in many diverse settings including professional studios, outdoor locales, and unconventional venues like museums, libraries, offices, and basements.
Years ago, as the industry gradually embraced HD video and DSLR cameras evolved into powerful yet accessible tools, I built my college thesis project around a series of videos that I recorded and digitally manipulated to evoke the haunting essence of fading memories. These visual narratives were projected larger than life in a black-box theater to accompany a live musical performance, immersing the audience in a holistic multimedia experience. This pivotal project both solidified my creative passions and set the stage for my role as a multimedia producer, where I handle all aspects of production from scoping and scripting to coaching, recording, and editing.
In 2019, my photo series Garden was featured in the Organic Matter art exhibition at the Stephen S. Clark Library in Ann Arbor, MI. I've created a version for the web: you can check it out here.
I began drawing cartoons when I was a toddler, and I've never stopped. Later, I discovered my love for arranging content on a page and making it reader-friendly while serving as the layout editor for my high school newspaper. These interests led me to graphic design during my time at art school, where I also explored motion graphics and animation. I have long enjoyed developing websites and for many years designed website packages for artists and musicians in my area. Similar to laying out a magazine or newspaper, I love collecting different types of content in one place, including photos, text copy, and personally designed graphic icons.
I have made a point to infuse my multimedia projects with bespoke graphic elements whenever the opportunity arises.
